Three ”la Caixa” Foundation fellowships for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at Hospital del Mar Research Institute

Agustín Conesa Celdran, Sara Mederos and Sílvia Susín Calle have been selected in the 2025 edition of these grants. The award ceremony took place on March 17 at the CosmoCaixa Science Museum.

The "la Caixa" Foundation has awarded one hundred new doctoral and postdoctoral fellowships to outstanding researchers who will carry out their projects at research centres in Spain and Portugal, three of them to researchers at Hospital del Mar Research Institute. These are Agustín Conesa Celdran and Sílvia Susín Calle, who received the INPhINIT doctoral fellowship, and Sara Mederos, who received the Junior Leader postdoctoral fellowship. The aim of these grants is to retain and attract talent in order to promote excellence in research in these countries.

The grants offer competitive salaries and a cross-disciplinary training programme. The INPhINIT doctoral fellowships strengthen areas such as scientific communication, emotional well-being, leadership and funding opportunities. The Junior Leader postdoctoral fellowships aim to foster an independent scientific career through innovation and leadership.

The fellowships have a total budget of 22 million euros and have been co-funded by the European Commission through the Marie Sk?odowska-Curie COFUND Actions in the framework of the Horizon 2020 programme.
