Project title:

Exploiting natural peptide resources to find novel peptide GPCR modulators

Research group / Service:

Description:

The selected person will join the GPCR Drug Discovery research group (Biomedical informatics research program).

Task:

Screen peptide databases derived from natural resources to identify candidate GPCR-binding peptides. Model and simulate peptide–GPCR complexes using molecular dynamics simulations. Analyze MD trajectories using GPCRmd analysis tools together with custom Python-based scripts. Characterize peptide–GPCR binding modes, key interaction hotspots, and conformational effects on the receptor. Optimize peptide sequences to improve GPCR binding affinity, selectivity, and stability. Establish an iterative exchange with experimental collaborators to validate newly identified peptide binders.

Formation:

Degree in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent qualification.

Experience:

1. Proven experience in data analysis 2. Strong interdisciplinary mindset and ability to apply computational tools to biomedical research 3. Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken

Knowledge:

1. Proficiency in Python, R, and Bash programming languages 2. Academic training in structural biology, computer-assisted drug design, and molecular dynamics simulations 3. Knowledge of MD simulation software (GROMACS and NAMD) and structure visualization tools (VMD, Chimera)
