Project title:

The first 10-year population-based genome-wide association study (GWAS) with coronary artery disease in over 100,000 participants to personalize cardiovascular prevention in Spain (PMP22/00033)

Description:

The selected person will join the Girona Heart Registry (REGICOR) research group (Epidemiology and public health research program).

Task:

The REGICOR research group is looking for a bioinformatics or data science technician to carry out data management, analysis and quality control of the genetic data of the CORDELIA Personalized Medicine project (https://cordeliaproject.net/) which integrates data from more than 196,000 people from 35 Spanish cohorts. Some of these cohorts include detailed information on omics (genetic, epigenetic, proteomic, metabolomic), clinical data, drug information and lifestyle. Tasks: - Management of large-scale genetic databases on external servers (use of dockers). - Performing quality control of genetic data (missense processing, Hardy-Weinberg imbalance calculation, etc.). - Integration of genetic data with clinical data. - Management of large databases - Performing quality control of genetic data (missense processing, Hardy-Weinberg imbalance calculation, etc.) - Integration of genetic data with clinical data. - Management of large databases

Formation:

Master's or higher degree in bioinformatics, data science, biostatistics, biomedicine, genetics, biology or equivalent degree.

Experience:

Previous experience in handling large databases, analysis of genetic data (GWAS, PRS), other omics data, artificial intelligence and Mendelian randomization will be an asset.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of R and also of specific GWAS analysis programs such as PLINK is a must. Knowledge of other languages such as SQL, Python and GitHub, and of computing environments such as Linux is also an asset.
