Award for César Jessé Enríquez at the joint training days of CIBER-BBN and CIBERES

For an oral presentation on the research carried out by the CIBER team led by Dr. Esther Barreiro on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute.

Dr. César Jessé Enríquez has received the award for the best oral presentation in the area of the CIBER of Respiratory Diseases (CIBERES) during the Joint Training Days between the CIBER area of Respiratory Diseases (CIBERES) and the CIBER area of Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine (CIBER-BBN), focused on early-career researchers. The event took place at Euroforum El Escorial on November 6 and 7.

The awarded work, "'GOLD E' versus 'Frequent Exacerbator' Classifications in COPD: A Proteo-Metabolomic Perspective", examined one of the topics studied by the Research Group on Muscle Wasting and Cachexia in Chronic Respiratory Diseases and Lung Cancer, coordinated by Dr. Esther Barreiro, and by the Research Group on Myogenesis, Inflammation and Muscle Function, led by Dr. Joaquim Gea, at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute. The study highlights detectable blood differences, both in proteins and metabolites, between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients with and without frequent exacerbations. The award includes support to attend an international conference of his choice.

The training days, at which Dr. Cinta Cumplí-consultant physician in the Pneumology Department at Hospital del Mar and researcher at HMRIB-also gave an oral presentation, aim to foster interdisciplinary interaction and create new collaborations among young researchers from CIBERES and CIBER-BBN.
