Aura Muntasell, researcher in the Immunity and Infection Research Group at the Hospital del Mar Research Institute and professor in the Department of Cell Biology at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), is one of the eight finalists in the fifteenth edition of the Vanguardia Science Award, promoted by Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera and La Vanguardia. You can vote for your favourite finalist until 28 June.

Muntasell has been selected for her research, which has enabled the development of a gene-editing strategy to enhance the efficacy of natural killer cells (Natural Killers), which are responsible for attacking infected or transformed cells. The work was published in Nature Immunology and has been one of the most outstanding among the more than one hundred candidacies submitted for the award.
This award seeks to promote excellence in research and give visibility to the significant contributions women are making in the field of science. It is awarded based on a weighted vote combining the opinions of La Vanguardia readers and those of the award's scientific advisory committee.
